How to merge PDF files

When you would use this
Merging comes up constantly once you work with documents at all: stitching a signed contract back together with its annexes, combining scanned receipts into one expense claim, or turning a folder of certificates into a single file an application form will accept. It is also the fix for a very common problem, the upload form that takes only one attachment when you have five.
Questions about Merge PDF
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Every tool on this site runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your disk into your own browser's memory, processed there, and written back out. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and run the tool — you will not see your document being sent anywhere. It also means the tools keep working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
- Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?
- There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your own machine, the practical ceiling is your device's memory. Merging dozens of ordinary documents is comfortable on any modern laptop or phone.
- Will merging reduce the quality of my pages?
- No. Merging copies each page's content across untouched, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. Nothing is re-encoded.
- Can I merge a password-protected PDF?
- Not directly. An encrypted PDF cannot be edited by any tool until the password is removed, so run it through Unlock PDF first and then merge the result. If you drop a protected file here you will be told, rather than left guessing why nothing happened.
